Our Dressing Rules

I love to write. So sometimes I will just sit down and write things. I was going through some old documents on my computer and found this list that I had written about a year ago. It cracked me up so I thought I would share. Tabitha has come a LONG way in a year but I am posting this today because just this morning she was crying and refusing to get dressed due to underwear issues....read on to understand!

Sunday in my house is not a day of rest. Each week I have to prep myself for the next one. Our Tabitha does not like clothing. So this makes putting on dress once a week extremely difficult. Let alone just a typical day. This is the clothing rule in our house for Tabitha.

1. All Tags are immediately cut off before wear because if a tag is felt the shirt is deemed “ITCHY!!!” and is cast off.
2. No logos on the front of shirts that can be felt from the inside are allowed.
3. No Collars on shirts.
4. Absolutely no leggings, or tights or anything else that clings to legs.
5. No jeans. They cut off circulation around the waist.
6. No footed PJ”s.
7. Dresses that have any lace, frill foof foofs, collars, or poufs, are considered, “ITCHY!!!” and are also cast out.
8. All dresses still must be able to twirl beautifully despite lacking all of rule number 7.
9. All socks must not have any seams by the toes or a correct indentation of where to put your heel. (If anyone has a knowledge of socks existing of this description please contact me)
10. All shoes that cover the entire foot “HURT MY FEET!!!”
11. Flip flops are worn in the spring, summer, fall, and winter. They are worn throughout rain, wind and snow and somehow feet “ARE NOT COLD.”
12. Underwear was invented by some evil seamstress who wanted to punish everyone with “WEDGIES!!!”
13. We only buy underwear that has a sticker “Wedgie free guaranteed.” and even those are not "guaranteed".
14. Coats that have any sort of elastic around the wrist are unfit to be a coat.
15. Gloves hurt fingers, hats are “ITCHY!!!” and scarves make it so you can’t breath.

As you can see dressing, in my house, is pretty much hell.

A Stranger

"Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see."
~Mark Twain

Sometimes, as a stay at home wife and mother I start to feel that my days run together with the same tedious chores and tasks. Often times I feel that I am inadequate to be a mom. I compare myself to others and I wonder if I am appreciated for the things that I do. That is why, this past week I was thankful for a kind stranger that crossed my path.
I took my girls to the public library on Monday. I was walking in with all three girls in tow when a grandma aged woman held the door open for me and my girls. My girls passed through each smiling at her and saying thank you(except Bethany of course!). Then I did the same. At the second door one of my girls held the door open for the lady. She smiled at her and said thank you then she turned to me and said, "You are a beautiful Mom with 3 beautiful daughters and are doing a wonderful job. Keep up the good work! Then after I said thank you she replied, "I mean it. You are a beautiful, wonderful Mom doing a great job with your girls." This lady didn't know me or my children but the way she said it made me convinced that I truly was! Her comment alone made all the exhausting drama from the day with my girls go away. It has stuck with me all week and when I start feeling like I am unfit to be a mother or too tired to keep going, I can still hear her words and they give me confidence.
It has also made me realize how just taking a moment to be kind to anyone-even a complete stranger- can make someones day. So take time this week to slow down, smile at someone and give a little kindness!

Singing Sis

I love listening to all the different things my girls come up with to say. This morning Bethany woke up and Tabitha ran into her room to talk to her while I took a few more minutes to "wake up." I have a monitor in my room so I could hear Tabs say to Bethany, "Here are some things you are going to learn..." Then she made up a tune and started singing...

"Number 1: Learn to crawl
Number 2: Learn to walk
Number 3: Learn to talk
Number4: Learn to eat
Number5: Learn to stop sucking your thumb
Number 6: Learn to play with me
Number 7: Learn to listen to Mom and Dad
Number 8 :I LOVE YOU!
Number 9: (I couldn't understand what she said)
Number 10: You will go to college and
Number 11: I am your friend! I am your friend! I am your friend FOREVER!!!!"

Baby B's Favorite pastimes...

Baby Bethany has brought joy into our home for 4 months as of today! It is fun to see her personality emerge more and more as she continues to grows. Some of her favorite things to do lately are:

Laugh at her big sisters.

Sleep(while sucking her thumb and holding on to something-most of the time it is her ear!)

Sticking her tongue out.(She finds this hilarious if you do it back at her!)

And of course wonder why Mom puts crazy's things on her head. (thanks auntie Spring!)
